The Latched SEO Process

At Latched, we do things a little bit differently when it comes to SEO.

Our process revolves around identifying your desired end goals, and working backwards to uncover what deliverables are required to hit these goals.

Here are the 5 big questions we ask before starting SEO campaigns:

  • What are your goals?
  • Where are you currently at SEO-wise?
  • What kind of SEO results are possible when working with Latched?
  • What are the steps that need to be taken in order to hit targets?
  • How will we measure results?

Modelling Expected Outcomes

By answering those 5 questions, it allows our team to accurately predict outcomes before we even start working with our clients. Here is what we will be able to predict:

  1. How much revenue will be generated for your business
  2. What the expected ROI will be from our services
  3. How many and which SEO deliverables will be required to hit target
  4. What degree of certainty we have that we can hit our predictions

The outcome is what we call the SEO Revenue Forecast. We use a combination of tools and mathematical models to come to our prediction conclusions.

We also will model various scenarios to show you the best plan of action to hitting targets.

Even better? All of this data will be assigned to your campaign in a 24/7 accessible dashboard so that you can benchmark your current performance with the Forecasted outcomes.

Sample SEO Revenue Forecast

For this example, we’ve used an Ecommerce website. The charts and data shown below are exactly what you can expect to see if you were to schedule an intro call with our team (PS: it's free):

Sample SEO Revenue Forecast

As you can see in the chart above, our forecast is showing an increase of 6,800 conversions (online sales in this case), and 67,800 new website sessions for this business.

Our model takes into account:

  • Seasonality on Google Search
  • The conversion rate of your website
  • Which keywords are the best candidates for getting us to the end goal

Expected ROI

For the example above, the prospect has an average order value of $70 on their Ecommerce website. Over 12 months, they can expect to generate an additional $476,000 in revenue just from Google Search. This isn't even including searches from people that are searching branded terms (keywords that include the company's brand name).

If this company was to purchase our Silver Package shown above, the total SEO budget would be $72,000 over 12 months. This would equate to a 6.61x ROI. In other words, for every dollar spent with us, they would see $6.61 in revenue on average over 12 months.

Outcome Probability

Our SEO Revenue Forecast also allows our customers to know what the probability is of hitting our forecasted targets. In this case, there is a very high chance that we will be able to hit our goals:

Deliverables

Below you will find a list of our packages. These packages will be recommended to you based on your current revenue, and how much work needs to get done to hit the targets shown in your SEO Revenue Forecast.

There are 5 key categories of deliverables that we provide with each campaign:

On-Page and Technical SEO

We will perform an in-depth audit of your On-Page and Technical SEO. By optimizing these two items, we will ensure that the site is performing at the highest level possible on Google Search. This will make all other efforts such as content writing and backlink building work a lot better.

We use a tool called OnCrawl for advanced Technical SEO audits. We will also bring our Technical SEO specialist into the equation to take a look at your Google Search Console and Google Analytics data to find any discrepancies with the way Google crawls your site and the way users interact with it.

We also will take a look at the way that previous Google Algorithm updates have impacted your site. This will guide us on making any necessary changes to protect your site from future updates. If necessary, we will disavow any bad backlinks.

Everything that needs to be taken care of will be fixed as part of our standardized offering.

Content Development

Our Content Development process is focused around what we call a “Content Hub” strategy. Content Hubs are essentially selected target pages that we wish to increase in rank and build topical authority around.

The way we execute this is by selecting topics that people search at the top of the funnel (discovery phase). This typically includes questions that people are searching for relating to the target Content Hub page.

Each primary content hub that we define on your website will require at least 4 supporting articles developed over 12 months. These supporting articles will then be internally linked to the Content Hub pages using the correct anchor text. This ultimately will boost the target Content Hub pages on Google Search whilst also guiding visitors that land on these supporting pages towards the hubs.

Our team of writers is equipped with various SEO tools to ensure that each article is highly optimized for ranking on Google. In addition, our SEO Editor will perform a review of the articles before they go live for quality assurance.

Schema Markup

Schema Markup is a way of telling search engines about specific items and areas of your website. It uses a coding language called JSON-LD to “wrap” sections with specific identifiers to guide Search Engines.

Right off the bat, we need to add a few types of Schema onto your website, such as: Organization Schema, Product Schema, Reviews Schema, FAQs Schema, and Local Schema

Every blog, product page, and landing page on your website will need to have FAQ Schema added. We will perform research on each of the primary keywords in which we want to target to find questions that people also ask in relation to the topics and answer those questions whilst embedding the Schema.

One benefit of developing Schema on your website is that you can get featured in Rich Snippets. If we are able to get you ranked with Rich Snippets, your rank for that keyword will be Position 0 which is the best possible ranking and provides the largest opportunity for visibility and more revenue.

Backlink Building (Off-Page SEO)

Backlinks increase the authority of your website and are essentially hyperlinks on other people’s websites that point to your site. We leverage backlinks to laser-target specific pages on your website that are ranking for specific keywords.

By building backlinks, we can strategically boost keywords by building high authority backlinks to target pages using strategic anchor text placement. Because many of the selected keywords for the campaign are rather competitive, we will need to ensure that we are building out at least 15 backlinks per month in order to hit our ROI targets.

Our team at Latched builds our links in-house for a great price. The benefit of this is that we can deliver a lot more links at scale, increasing output.

As we progress along the campaign, we may wish to increase the amount of links that are delivered to continue to speed up the results. Our team builds a combination of niche edits and guest posts on 60+ DR domains.

Analytics and Reporting

The final component to our strategy includes analyzing, monitoring, and reporting progress of the campaign to you and your business. One of the best parts about working with us is that you get 24/7 access to a dashboard that will show you everything you need to know about how things are going.

This includes:

  1. Seeing what keywords we are targeting in the campaign, and comparing the progress of ranking these keywords from when we started to the current viewing date
  2. Tracking a complete 360 degree view of your website traffic data. We will sync your Google Analytics and Google Search Console Data with our software so that the data is accessible all in one place
  3. Predicting how much traffic, conversions, and revenue you will generate with our efforts by viewing the Forecast section on our tool
  4. Instantly compare current performance with the forecast to make sure that everything is on track

Access to our reporting dashboard is included. We also can do monthly review calls to go over progress.

Frequently Asked SEO Questions

What is SEO?

SEO, otherwise known as Search Engine Optimization, is the process of getting your website ranked at the top of Search Engines such as Google organically without the use of online ads.

The ultimate goal with SEO is to increase online revenue by increasing the amount of website visitors (also known as website traffic) that come to your website. In this case, the website visitors will be originating from Google Searches themselves. We call this Organic Search Traffic.

The foundational strategy for SEO begins by identifying terms that people search for on Search Engines, and aim to increase your ranking for those terms. These terms, otherwise known as keywords in the SEO world, can be a single word, a string of words, or a full sentence.

As you could imagine, there are unlimited possible variations of keywords out there. But the true value is identifying which keywords have the most searches, and how difficult it is to rank for them. Searching for and identifying these keywords is a process called keyword research, and it is one of the backbones of a solid SEO strategy.

Most SEO professionals use 3rd party tools such as Ahrefs and SEMRush to perform keyword research. That way, they can make informed decisions to allocate budget and resources towards the keywords that will produce the best results.

There are many factors that go into SEO. These include things such as: optimizing your website, optimizing the way Search Engines crawl and interact with your website, building hyperlinks that point from other websites to your website (also called backlinks), improving your social media presence, and developing useful content on your website in the form of pages and blogs.

Why is SEO useful?

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for short, is one of the most cost effective long-term strategies to market your business online. SEO allows your business website to rank on the top of Google Search without having to spend money on ads. When you rank higher on Google Search for various terms (called keywords in the SEO world), people will click the links on Google and come to your website to learn more.

Spending money on online advertising can be expensive. In addition, online advertising pricing is constantly fluctuating depending on how many people are trying to run ads to your target audience. When your ads are turned off, you lose all traffic that was coming to your website from the advertisements. In the event that something happens to your advertising account, or ads get more expensive, you will either lose your traffic source completely or your products and offerings that you sell will turn less profit.

The benefit of SEO is that the investment you make will benefit you long term. In addition, you will own all of the deliverables that are provided to you. SEO is like playing for keeps versus renting space on various websites.

One more important thing to add is that by performing SEO, we are targeting users that are already searching for what you have to offer. This increases the chances that these users will navigate to your website and become a customer. Advertising is perceived as intrusive, whereas SEO is perceived as providing value to users thus building trust.

How much does SEO cost?

SEO is a lot of work. It requires SEO professionals to create written content in the form of blogs or landing pages, build hyperlinks on other people's websites (called backlinks in the SEO world), optimize hundreds of on-page and technical SEO factors, and much more.

Consider for a moment the average wage in the United States which is around $52,000 per year or $25 per hour considering 2,080 average work hours per year. A full time employee would cost around $4,000 per month to hire.

With this in mind, we can start to piece together the value that SEO agencies like Latched provide to our customers. At face value, a monthly fee of $4,000, $6,000, or $8,000 may seem like a lot. But when you work with an agency, you are getting a lot of manpower and knowledge that is passed on to your business.

You could pay a freelancer an average wage of $4,000 per month and get the knowledge and power of one individual. Or you could hire us and pay $4,000 to have the power and knowledge of 10 individuals that would interact with your campaign.

The average SEO monthly retainer can range from $2,000 all the way up to $20,000 per month and beyond. On average, you should expect to spend at least $4,000 per month on SEO for quality service. With SEO, you are essentially paying for billable hours and manpower. The role of the agency is to delegate our manpower accordingly to our clients.
