Our is a licensed retail store chain currently based in British Columbia, Canada. Currently, our local cannabis client has 2 locations across British Columbia, and plans to open the maximum 8 store limit by the end of 2021.
One of the challenges with the this industry is that platforms such as Facebook and Google do not permit advertising for any sort of ads for dispensary related products on their platforms.
Because of this, we recommended our client pursue a Search Engine Optimization campaign, along with a fresh website design, content creation, and social media management.
SEO is one of the best ways to market dispensary related websites online. However, there are some important things that needed to be taken care of to ensure that the campaigns were highly effective.
One barrier was that dispensary sites need to have an age-gate. Because of this, we needed to create a solution that wouldn't negatively affect SEO. For instance, if we were to put an age gate that featured a redirect, the Google Crawler would most likely have been unable to detect the actual content on the page.
Instead, we created a custom-coded solution that used cookie data. After the user would accept the age gate terms, the modal on the page would be hidden for a period of thirty days. By having a modal, the rest of the page content was actually loaded. This allowed the Google Bot to be able to crawl the pages.
Here are some screenshots that showcase the results we were able to achieve within the first few months of the campaign:
Despite the challenges seen with the COVID-19 pandemic, our client is now situated to dominate within British Columbia. As we continue to expand on our blog writing and content creation for their company, they will continue to rank for more keywords that are crucial to online and local success.
Our client now plans on opening an additional 6 locations across British Columbia, with many of these locations opening at the end of 2020.
As of August 2020, our client is now achieving a consistent 5,000 monthly organic website visitors. Over 80% of this traffic is sourced from organic search and Google Maps.
